As an educator dedicated to nurturing young talents in music, I have had the privilege of collaborating with Renee Wilson-Wicker, witnessing firsthand her remarkable prowess and dedication in guiding and inspiring our students. Her exceptional skills as a conductor go far beyond mere technical expertise; they embody a rare combination of passion, artistry, and an unwavering commitment to musical excellence.
Starting her career as a public school choir director, one can see the mastery and understanding Renee Wilson-Wicker has of the high school mind. Our students were invited to sing under her baton at Carnegie Hall. This was a first for both my student’s and Renee Wilson-Wicker. To have been able to share this experience together is priceless.
Ms. Wilson-Wicker brought an unparalleled level of professionalism and artistry to our collaborative efforts. Her ability to interpret and convey the subtleties of musical expression not only elevated our performances but also enriched the musical experience for our students. Through her insightful guidance, she instilled in our students a deeper understanding of the nuances within the music, encouraging them to delve into the soul of each phrase and bring it to life with passion and precision.
Beyond her undeniable musical talent, Renee possesses an extraordinary gift for connecting with young musicians. Her patience, encouragement, and genuine enthusiasm fostered an environment where our students felt motivated and empowered to strive for their best. Her mentorship extended beyond the podium, leaving an indelible mark on our students' musical journeys.
Renee Wilson-Wicker has left an indelible mark on our musical community, and her impact continues to resonate profoundly. Her dedication to nurturing the next generation of musicians is nothing short of inspiring.
In closing, I cannot emphasize enough the depth of admiration and gratitude I hold for Renee Wilson-Wicker. Her exceptional musicianship, coupled with her unwavering dedication to our students' musical growth, has made a lasting impression that will continue to reverberate through our musical endeavors for years to come.
And not for nothing, if you are able to get 30 high school students to say “we want her back,” you must be doing something right.

I invited Renée to come and work with my Advanced Mixed Choir, leading up to our state Performance Evaluations. She was mature and professional with her feedback to my choir; but most importantly, she was able to connect with my students immediately. My singers were very receptive to her directions because of her caring and passionate personality that they noticed right away. Her vast knowledge and wide variety of tools helped my students grow from an Excellent to a Superior rating!
I'm a strong believer that students should experience many different types of directors to grow and Renée was the perfect fit for my advanced group. Thank you, Renée, for your dedication to high quality music, no matter who is standing in front of you!

My students loved working with Mrs. Wicker! She served as a clinician and judge as we prepared for our state adjudication in March 2023. Throughout the process, she brought a wealth of knowledge and experience, guiding my students to earn top Superior ratings!
Renée's comments were perfectly balanced - she praised what my students were doing well, but also provided the perfect amount of criticism, pushing them to the next level.

Renée has recorded rehearsal tracks for our District Honor Chorus events for nearly 20 years. She has consistently provided us with a valuable resource to help students learn their parts for an affordable price. Students are able to hear the dominant voice as well as the song in full context, which includes the accompaniment and harmonic layers in the background of each track. The tracks are always recorded at a realistic tempo to ensure students are learning the parts accurately and able to distinguish world languages pronunciation.
